Evaluasi pendidikan jurnalisme data di perguruan tinggi swasta Indonesia

Abstract


Latar Belakang: Jurnalisme data mulai berkembang pesat secara global dan mulai mengisi ruang redaksi di berbagai media. Seiring dengan meningkatnya praktik jurnalisme data di industri, beberapa perguruan tinggi di berbagai belahan dunia pun telah mulai mengadopsi kurikulum jurnalisme data untuk diterapkan dalam kelas. Pada awal perkembangannya di Indonesia, beberapa perguruan tinggi swasta sudah mulai bergerak dan mencoba beradaptasi dengan mengembangkan jurnalisme data ke dalam kurikulumnya, yang mana Universitas Multimedia Nusantara (UMN) merupakan pionirnya. Tujuan: Pergerakan perguruan tinggi di Indonesia dalam mengenalkan jurnalisme data perlu untuk dianalisis lebih jauh sebagai upaya untuk mengetahui sejauh mana perkembangan pendidikan jurnalisme data di Indonesia. Di samping itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan gambaran tentang pendidikan jurnalisme data di Indonesia, melihat belum adanya penelitian tentang hal tersebut yang dilakukan di Indonesia maupun negara berkembang lainnya. Metode: Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode wawancara terhadap pembentuk kurikulum dan tenaga pendidik jurnalisme data di UMN, serta studi dokumen. Hasil: Hasilnya, kurikulum jurnalisme data di UMN didesain dengan menggunakan pendekatan software-dependent dengan meliputi keempat aspek yang ada dalam tipologi oleh (Lewis, 2021), yakni data analysis, data acquisition and cleaning, pattern detection, dan data representation. Pada penerapannya, metode pembelajaran yang digunakan adalah kolaboratif dan berbasis pengalaman sebagai model strategi untuk siswa menghadapi transformasi dan kompleksitas yang ada dalam jurnalisme data.
