ARTICLE REVIEW: EFEK TERAPETIK AKUPUNTUR PADA PASIEN DENGAN DIABETES MELITUS TIPE-2
Abstrak
Diabetes Mellitus Tipe 2 (DMT2) merupakan salah satu isu kesehatan global. Dalam satu decade terakhir menunjukkan bahwa terapi DMT2 kurang memuaskan sehingga diperlukan adanya terapi alternatif. Salah satu terapi alternative yang dapat digunakan adalah akupunktur. Akupunktur merupakan salah satu pengobatan tradisonal Cina yang sudah luas digunakan dalam penanganan DMT2, namun belum banyak artikel membahas khasiat terapi akupunktur dibandingan dengan pengobatan antidiabetic pada pasien DMT2. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk memuat bukti-bukti uji klinis khasiat akupunktur dalam terapi pasien DMT2. Sebanyak 3 artikel yang memuat uji klinis dan uji acak terkontrol yang dieproleh secara elektronik melalu situs PubMed selama 10 tahun terakhir. Hasil studi ini menunjukkan bahwa akupunktur terbukti dapat memperbaiki kadar glukosa darah, berat badan, dan sensitivitas insulin pasien DMT2 melalui mekanisme antiinflamasinya. Berdasarkan hasil ini, disimpulkan bawa intervensi akupunktur dalam terapi pasien DMT2 dapat meningkatkan outcome pengobatan pasien DMT2 dan direkomendasikan untuk diimplementasikan sebagai pengobatan tambahan DMT2 di Indonesia.
