Artikel Ulasan: Potensi Herbal Sebagai Fitoterapi Pada Epilepsi

Abstrak


Epilepsi merupakan penyakit neurologis dengan tingkat paling membebani kelima di dunia. Prevalensi epilepsi di dunia meningkat hampir dua kali lipat dari tahun 1990 (34%) ke tahun 2016 (63%). Penulisan artikel ini dilakukan untuk memberikan informasi terkait herbal yang memiliki potensi sebagai alternatif antiepilepsi dan telah diujikan secara in vivo. Metode yang digunakan adalah pencairan literatur terlebih dahulu dengan kata kunci “aktivitas antiepilepsi”/” antiepileptic activity”, “tanaman”/” plants”, “in-vivo” pada kolom pencarian database Google Scholar dan PubMed lalu dilakukan inklusi berdasarkan relevansinya. Adapun hasil dari review artikel yaitu diperoleh 24 spesies tanaman dengan aktivitas agonis GABAergik (20 spesies tanaman), antioksidan (9 spesies tanaman), inhibisi kanal ion Na+; K+ (4 spesies tanaman), dan inhibisi kolinergik (4 spesies tanaman). Beberapa diantaranya memiliki senyawa yang mampu melintasi saraf pusat yaitu isokuersetin- 3 -O-glukosida, glabridin, kuersetin, 6-Gingerol, turmeron, dan, bisabolene sesquiterpenoid. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, Achyranthes aspera Linn memiliki dosis paling berpotensial (5-10 mg/kB, i.p) sebagai anti epilepsi.
