Abstrak


Mangrove adalah tanaman yang dapat bertahan di lingkungan dengan kadar garam tinggi dan membentuk komunitas serta ekosistem yang unik. Untuk bertahan dalam kondisi yang sulit, mangrove diperkirakan menghasilkan berbagai senyawa fitokimia. Selama bertahun-tahun, masyarakat telah banyak memanfaatkan tanaman ini untuk keperluan pengobatan dan kebutuhan tradisional. Beberapa genus mangrove memiliki efikasi yang berpotensi tinggi untuk dikembangkan. Teluk Balikpapan adalah salah satu kawasan di Kalimantan Timur yang memiliki spesies tanaman mangrove yang beragam. Kajian ini membahas tentang penggunaan empiris, senyawa bioaktif serta aktivitas farmakologis yang dihasilkan oleh tanaman obat mangrove yang tumbuh di Teluk Balikpapan. Diharapkan kajian ini dapat menjadi cara untuk menjamin ketahanan obat-obatan di Indonesia khususnya di Teluk Balikpapan pada masa yang akan datang.
