PEKERJAAN SOSIAL DAN ORANG DENGAN DISABILITAS

Abstrak


Profesi pekerjaan sosial adalah profesi praktik dan disiplin ilmu yang fokusnya adalah mendorong terjadinya perubahan dan pembangunan sosial, kohesi sosial dan pemberdayaan serta pembebasan manusia. Populasi disabilitas adalah populasi yang mengalami banyak kekerasan dan penindasan serta ketidakterpenuhan hak, padahal Indonesia sudah memiliki payung hukum yang memandatkan pemerintah Republik Indonesia untuk memenuhi hak orang dengan disabilitas. Dengan menggunakan metode kajian literatur, tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menjabarkan praktik pekerjaan sosial dengan populasi disabilitas di Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pekerjaan sosial sebagai profesi pertolongan bekerja dengan populasi disabilitas di tiga bidang praktik yaitu praktik mikro, mezzo dan makro. Saat bekerja dengan populasi disabilitas, pekerja sosial harus selalu melibatkan orang dengan disabilitas sebagai subjek dan mengkonsultasikan hal-hal berkenaan dengan pemenuhan hak mereka dengan orang dengan disabilitas itu sendiri. Dengan melakukan hal tersebut, pekerja sosial akan terhindar dari praktik oppresif terhadap populasi disabilitas.

 

Social work profession is a practice profession and an academic discipline focusing on the fostering of social change and social development as well as social cohesion and empowerment and human freedom. Disability population is one population experiencing many violations and oppression along with unfulfillment of their rights, whereas Indonesia has the legal umbrella mandating the government of Indonesia to achieve the fulfilment of the rights of people with disability. Using study literature method, this article is aiming at describing the social work practice with disability population in Indonesia. The result shows that social work as a helping profession working with disability population in three field of practice, namely micro, mezzo and macro. During working with disability population, social workers have to always involving the people with disability as the subjects and consult on every aspect of their rights fulfilment with the disability population themselves. By doing so, social workers will be protected from conducting oppressive practice toward the disabled population.
