Hubungan Konsep Diri dan Altruisme pada Caregiver dari Penderita Alzheimer dan Caregiver dari Anak Berkebutuhan Khusus

Abstrak


Penderita Alzheimer dan anak berkebutuhan khusus (ABK) mengalami keterbatasan yang nyata dalam kemampuan kognitif dan fungsi sehari-hari, sehingga memerlukan bantuan dari caregiver. Sikap altruisme merupakan variabel penting yang seharusnya dimiliki oleh caregiver untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pasien. Di sisi lain, konsep diri caregiver juga dapat memengaruhi perilakunya. Penelitian ini secara umum bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara konsep diri dan altruisme pada caregiver dari penderita Alzheimer dan caregiver dari ABK serta melihat perbedaannya di kedua kelompok tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode korelasional. Subjek diperoleh melalui teknik purposive sampling dengan kriteria: berasal dari komunitas caregiver Alzheimer Indonesia Chapter Semarang dan komunitas ABK di Jawa Tengah. Jumlah subjek per komunitas adalah 50 orang. Pengambilan data dilakukan menggunakan skala yang diadaptasi, yaitu Skala Personal Self-Concept (PSC) sebanyak 22 item dan Skala Self-Report Altruism Scale sebanyak 14 item. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara konsep diri sebagai caregiver dari penderita Alzheimer dan caregiver dari ABK dengan sikap altruisme pada individu (R = .500, α = .000, R2 = .250). Hasil uji beda kedua kelompok subjek tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan. Adanya korelasi antara konsep diri dan sikap altruisme pada hasil riset ini bisa ditindaklanjuti dengan mengembangkan riset-riset intervensi berupa psikoedukasi kepada para caregiver untuk membentuk konsep diri yang positif agar meningkatkan sikap altruisme dalam kehidupan sehari-hari.
