Kajian Jurnalisme is a scholarly journal dedicated to the critical, empirical, and theoretical study of journalism as a public practice, professional institution, knowledge system, cultural form, and technological field.

The journal focuses on research that examines how journalism is produced, distributed, interpreted, governed, transformed, and contested in society. It gives special attention to journalism as a practice of public communication that shapes information, public knowledge, accountability, democracy, identity, power, crisis response, and everyday social life.

The name Kajian Jurnalisme reflects the journal's distinctive position. The journal is not intended to be a general communication journal, a broad media studies journal, or a publication venue for any topic loosely related to media. Submitted manuscripts must show a clear and direct connection to journalism, journalistic institutions, news production, news content, news audiences, journalistic technology, journalism ethics, media accountability, or the social role of journalism.

Kajian Jurnalisme welcomes manuscripts that study journalism in relation to:

  • Journalistic practice and professional work
  • News content and journalistic representation
