Abstract

Abstract

Potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) seed production in medium altitude land can be another option to avoid environmental damage and limited seed production area in the high altitute land. The effort to increase the production of G0 potato seed is to apply NPK fertilizer and plant growth regulators. There, it is necessary to research the proper application of NPK fertilizer and the frequency of paclobutrazol application to increase the growth and yield of Go potato seeds in medium plains. This study aims to determine the interaction between the application of NPK fertilizer and the frequency of paclobutrazol application that can increase the growth and yield of G0 potato seeds in medium plains. The experiment was carried out at the experimental filed of Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor. The experimental design used was a factorial randomized block design. The first factor was the application method of NPK fertilizer (granules, liquid, granular + liquid) and the second factor was the frequency of paclobutrazol application, i.e., 1 time only at 50 days after planting (DAP), 2 times at 50 DAP and 60 DAP and 3 times at 50 DAP, 60 DAP, 70 DAP. The experimental results showed that there was no interaction between the method of NPK fertilizer application and the frequency of paclobutrazol application on the growth and yield of G0 potato seeds. The application method of NPK fertilizer in form of liquid fertilizer could increase plant height, leaf area, leaf area index, plant dry weight, numbers of G0 seed tubers (7.61 knol plant-1) and tuber weights per plant (98.75 g plant-1). The frequency of 3 times NPK fertilizer applied at 50 DAP, 60 DAP, and 70 DAP was able to increase the chlorophyll content, numbers of G0 seed tubers for about 7.50 knol plant-1, and the highest of tuber weight for about 104.40 g plant-1.
