Abstract

The objective of the research was to determine maximum yield of wheat that were
planted on medium land which were treated calcium chloride and salicylic acid with an optimum concentration. The experiment was conducted from March until
July 2011 at The Experimental Station of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Padjadjaran, Jatinangor with an altitude of about 750 metres above sea level. The experimental design used was Randomized Block Design with factorial treatment design which consisted of two factors and replicated three times. The first factor was concentrations of calcium chloride which consisted of three levels: 0 M, 10-2 M, and 2 x 10-2 M. The second factor was concentrations of salicylic acid which consisted of three levels: 0 M, 10-4 M, and 2 x 10-4 M. The results of this research showed that there were interaction effect between concentrations of calcium chloride with the concentrations of salicylic acid on leaf area indexes, root volumes, chlorophyll contents, panicle weights, grain weights, and yields. Increasing concentrations up to 10-2 M calcium chloride had increased the leaf area indexes, root volumes, chlorophyll contents, panicle weights, grain weights, and yields at the level of 0 M salicylic acid, but had lowered leaf area indexes, root volumes, chlorophyll contents, panicle weights, and grain weights at the level of 2x10-4 M salicylic acid. Increasing concentrations up to 10-4 M salicylic acid had increased the leaf area indexes, root volumes, chlorophyll contents, panicle weights, and grain weights at the level of 0 M salicylic acid, but had lowered root volumes, chlorophyll contents, panicle weights, grain weights, and yields at the level of 2x10-4 M of salicylic acid. Maximum yields were obtained at a concentration 1.2 x 10-2 M of calcium chloride 7 x 10-5 M of salicylic acid.
