PEMAHAMAN PETANI DALAM BUDIDAYA BUAH MANGGIS DI DESA PARAKANMANGGU PANGANDARAN UNTUK PENINGKATAN KUALITAS HASIL PANEN
Abstrak
Pangandaran Regency has not optimally produced mangosteen, therefore it is not in the top 10 regencies producing mangosteen in West Java. Parakanmanggu Village is the largest mangosteen producer in Pangandaran Regency and has the potential to increase its production and has promising potential. This is due to the suitable agro climatic conditions in the area. The aim of this survey is to identify the conditions and issues in mangosteen cultivation and other commodities. The method used in this survey will be direct interviews, with the measurement of community understanding evaluated through assessments by farmers regarding their satisfaction with harvest results and the selling price of their harvest products. Based on this study, the results concluded that the majority of mangosteen farmers already know or understand how to plant and care for the mangosteen trees they grow themselves. However, there are some farmers who do not know how to control pests properly thus it carried out outreach regarding pest control procedures.
Kabupaten Pangandaran belum optimal memproduksi manggis sehingga berada di atas 10 besar di Jawa Barat. Desa Parakanmanggu merupakan penghasil manggis terbesar di Kabupaten Pangandaran, sehingga memiliki potensi yang menjanjikan untuk meningkatkan produksinya. Hal ini disebabkan oleh cocoknya kondisi agroklimatik di daerah tersebut. Tujuan dari kajian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi kondisi dan permasalahan yang terjadi dalam budidaya manggis dan komoditas lainnya. Metode yang digunakan dalam survei ini adalah survei langsung, dengan pengukuran tingkat pemahaman masyarakat yang di evaluasi melalui penilaian dari para petani mengenai tingkat kepuasan mereka terhadap hasil panen dan nilai jual produk panen mereka. Berdasarkan studi ini, hasilnya menyimpulkan bahwa mayoritas petani manggis sudah mengetahui atau memahami cara menanam dan merawat pohon manggis yang mereka tanam sendiri. Namun, terdapat beberapa petani yang belum mengetahui cara mengendalikan hama dengan benar, sehingga dilakukan penyuluhan mengenai prosedur pengendalian hama.
