Environmental issues are a serious problem in various countries in the world, including Indonesia. Environmental management cannot only be handled by one party, either only the government, or the community itself. Efforts to overcome environmental issues need to involve various stakeholders, including the industry or companies through corporate social responsibility (CSR). Several stakeholders who can be involved in dealing with environmental issues are the government, companies or the private sector, academics, the media, and the community. The treatment process can be carried out through building mutual awareness, conducting joint studies and actions, and conducting joint monitoring and evaluation. The participation and involvement of stakeholders in the process of handling environmental issues is important. The participation process will build the empowered character of the community so that in the end it will build independence and sustainable management, where this will be realized through economic, social, and ecological benefits for the surrounding community and all stakeholders. Maintaining independence is a challenge in itself, even something that must be maintained.
