ABSTRACT
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic non-communicable disease with increasing prevalence, including in Indonesia. MHealth is one of the technology-based cellular health interventions used as an effort to improve the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The purpose of this paper is to describe the effectiveness, efficiency, and ease of use of mobile health applications in type 2 DM patients. This writing method uses searches on the Pubmed and Google Scholar databases with keywords such as, effectivity, efficiency, usability, mHealth and DM type 2 using 40 relevant articles published between 2018 and 2023. The use of mobile health applications can provide efficacy with reduced HbA1c levels, 2-hour postprandial fasting blood sugar, and lipid profiles in type 2 DM patients with clinical and economical efficiency. In addition, the ease of use of diabetes applications for type 2 DM patients varies with the support of the user's social and educational background. The role of health professionals is very necessary to promote mobile health applications as well as how to use them.
