HUBUNGAN JARAK TRANSPOR POLEN, UKURAN BUTIR SEDIMEN DAN KUANTITAS POLEN DALAM SEDIMEN RESEN DELTA MAHAKAM
Abstract
Abstract
Mahakam Delta is the biggest delta-producing hydrocarbon in Indonesia. The vegetation of mixed forest, Nypa swamp forests and mangrove forests is pollen resources from proximal to distal of delta plain. In deltaic system the occurrences of pollen fossils are very importance to determine of relative age, depositional environment and sea level changes. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between transportation distance of pollen, sediment grain sizes and pollen quantity in recent sediment Mahakam Delta. Fifty five samples were taken from sediment of delta plain and delta front. Separation of pollen from sediment is using acetolysis method. The multiple linear regression is used to analyses that relation. The result of multiple linear regression shows that the transportation distance of pollen, sediment grain size are influence the quantity of pollen. The shorter transportation distance and the smaller sediment grain size, the quantity of pollen is higher. On the other hand, partial test of regression coefficient show that transportation distance itself is influence the pollen quantity, but sediment grain size is not significant.
