Abstract

Research has been carry out to study the response of  yellow stem borer on rice varieties and rice straw compost dose on SRI cultivation is done in the home screen Experimental Station Department of Plant Pests and Diseases Jatinangor Faculty of Agriculture, Padjadjaran University, from March 2012 to June 2012. The design used was a randomized block design with two factors factorial pattern and replicated three times. The first factor is the variety of the rice plant consists of two levels ie v1: Inpari-1 and v2: Sarinah varieties. Second factor is a doses of rice straw compost consists of seven levels, namely: k0: without rice straw compost, k1: 2.5 t ha⁻¹ rice straw compost, k2: 5.0 t ha⁻¹ rice straw compost, k3: 7.5 t ha⁻¹ rice straw compost, k4: 10.0 t ha⁻¹, rice straw compost, k5: 12.5 t ha⁻¹ rice straw compost, and k6: 15.0 t ha⁻¹ rice straw compost. The results showed that : 1) Varieties Sarinah with 5 t ha⁻¹ rice straw compost has a number of schlerenchim (2.67 per 50 µm), thickness schlerenchim (12.33 µm), long trichomes (12.83 µm), number of trichomes (4.67 per 50 µm) , the thickness of the epidermis (2:25 µm), pith diameter (104.70 µm), and the amount of vascular tissue (3.33 per 50 µm), levels of silicate (3.87%), moisture content (82.17%), starch (1.09%), protein content (7.51%), crude of fiber content (21.00%) and violence stems (1.87%), length of larvae (1.90 µm), the weight of larvae (0.05 g), the width of the head capsule (4639.44 µm), width mandible (1243.82 µm), long mandible (1314.43 µm), pupa length on (1.04 µm), and pupal weight (µm 0.03), 0.33  group of eggs and plant damage cause 62.55% deadhearts and  94.04%  whitehearts. 2) Provision of rice straw compost on SRI cultivation and strengthen plant tissue also causes serrationsof yellow stem borer mandible larvae become worn.
