PENGARUH PENGGUNAAN MASKER DI MASA PANDEMI TERHADAP IDENTIFIKASI EMOSI DASAR MELALUI EKSPRESI WAJAH
Abstrak
Pandemi COVID-19 membuat masyarakat harus menggunakan masker ketika berinteraksi dengan orang lain yang diduga dapat mempengaruhi proses komunikasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji pengaruh penggunaan masker terhadap identifikasi emosi dasar melalui ekspresi wajah. Dengan menggunakan simple randomized sampling, penelitian ini mendapatkan total 60 partisipan sebagai sampel, yang merupakan mahasiswa semester tiga Fakultas Psikologi Universitas Padjadjaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan platform daring Labvanced untuk menyajikan gambar wajah seseorang yang menunjukkan ekspresi emosi dasar untuk diidentifikasi oleh partisipan penelitian. Yang mana pada kelompok eksperimen ditampilkan seseorang yang menunjukkan ekspresi emosi dasar dengan menggunakan masker, sementara di kelompok kontrol ditampilkan seseorang yang tidak menggunakan masker. Hasil pengolahan data menggunakan Uji Mann Whitney dan Chi Square menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan masker memiliki pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap identifikasi emosi dasar melalui ekspresi wajah, khususnya pada emosi jijik dan marah. Penelitian ini memberikan informasi bahwa penggunaan masker pada masa pandemi COVID-19 dapat menjadi salah satu faktor terjadinya ketidaktepatan identifikasi emosi lawan bicara. Hal tersebut mungkin akan berdampak pada terjadinya ketidaktepatan pemahaman antar individu pada saat berkomunikasi.
