This study discusses the study of animal diplomacy in international relations. With a focus on China's panda diplomacy and Australia's koala diplomacy. China has implemented Panda diplomacy first, followed by Australia, which also implements Koala diplomacy. Both have the same threat, namely the extinction of their iconic animals. What is quite interesting is that China is also one of the goals of koala diplomacy. Looking at these problems, the question arises: Why should China be chosen by Australia? This paper aims to find out more about the reasons why China should be Australia's partner in relation to Koala protection efforts. To answer this question, the researcher uses the theory of Constructivism and is supported by a qualitative method from data derived from secondary data. From the data that has been collected, there are findings about China's success in diplomacy and defending pandas. On the other hand, China is also a second habitat for koalas. So Australia must establish a cooperative relationship with China as an effort to prevent koala extinction.
