Abstrak

The participation of health cadres as a concrete manifestation of community empowerment in the health sector plays an important role in the prevention of coronary heart disease (CHD). Until now, there is no data on the knowledge, attitude, and practice of health cadres regarding risk factors for coronary heart disease in the Jatinangor sub-distric; this is very influential on the success of the program. Knowledge, attitude and practice building of health cadres is one of the efforts to increase the capacity of cadres in the primary prevention effort. Toassess knowledge, attitude and practice of CHD risk factors and calculate the association between those knowledge, attitude andpractice.

After giving knowledge about CHD risk factors, knowledge, attitude and practice data were collected on two months later using a validated questionnaire. Across sectionalobservational study, with convenient sampling method was performed in this study.Descriptive analysis was used to see the proportion of knowledge, attitude and practice level. Correlation was done to find out the association between knowledge, attitude and practice.

A total of 30 respondents aged 44.4(SD=8.8)yearsold enrolled in this study. Ten of thirty respondents participated in the previousknowledge, attitude, and practice building activity.Apart from participating in the training, there were 0.73 health cadres who had good, 0.20average and 0.07 poor knowledge. While, 0.47 health cadres had good attitude, 0.40average and 0.13 poor attitude towards CHD risk factors. For behavioral aspects, cadres who had good, average and poor practice0.17, 0.80,and 0.03 consecutively. There was no association between knowledge and attitude (P= 0.570), knowledge and practice (P= 0.357), practice and attitude (P=0.919).

The majority of Indonesia’s health cadres had a good level of knowledge and attitude, however very few respondents had good practice towards CHD risk factors. There was no association between those variables.
