The Journal of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Padjadjaran was established in 1988 under the name Jurnal Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Padjadjaran. The primary objective of the journal was to publish and disseminate research findings and scholarly works produced by academic staff and researchers of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Padjadjaran. As the journal developed, it garnered strong positive recognition from the academic dental community and practicing dentists. Consequently, Jurnal Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Padjadjaran became a venue for the publication of scholarly articles authored by faculty members from dental schools throughout Indonesia. The articles published in the journal became important references for dental practitioners, as they were applicable to daily clinical practice and contributed to the advancement of knowledge in dentistry.
In 2007, Jurnal Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Padjadjaran transitioned into an English-language journal under the title Padjadjaran Journal of Dentistry©. As a result of this transformation, the publication of Jurnal Kedokteran Gigi was officially discontinued from that year.
In 2016, Jurnal Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Padjadjaranwas reactivated and further developed with the aim of accommodating scholarly works in dentistry from academic, research, and clinical practice perspectives. The journal was repositioned to serve as a scientific reference for all branches of dental science, as well as a medium for disseminating more specialized clinical dental research, including original research articles, case reports, and systematic reviews.
In 2026, the journal entered a new phase of development by adopting English as its official publication language. This strategic transition was implemented for all articles published from that edition onward, with the objective of expanding international visibility, enhancing academic quality, and strengthening the journal’s global scholarly reach.
Jurnal Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Padjadjaran is committed to serving as a platform for scientific dissemination and reference in dental education and research for dental researchers, professional peers, and the broader community. The journal supports the development of dental science at the regional, national, and international levels.
