Perbedaan kekuatan tensil antara koping logam gigi tiruan cekat dengan variasi sudut preparasi dinding aksial
Differences in the tensile strength between coping metal of fixed denture with axial wall preparation angle variations
Abstract

ABSTRACT
Introduction: The axial wall angle is the angle formed during the preparation of the abutment teeth. Selection of the right preparation angle is essential because a very narrow preparation angle can produce undesirable undercut areas, and a very wide angle can result in less retentive dentures. The purpose of this study was to determine the differences of the tensile strength between coping metal of fixed denture with axial wall preparation angles of 3 °, 6 °, and 10 °. Methods: This research was true experimental. The study sample was 27 maxillary premolar teeth grown on self-polymerised acrylic resin. All teeth were prepared until the remaining height of 5 mm and a diameter of 4 mm; then the axial wall angle was formed. Data were analysed using one-way ANOVA and post-hoc LSD tests. Results: There were significant differences (p < 0.05). Group 1 had the highest tensile strength (mean 1.57 ± 0.04 MPa), followed by group 2 (mean 1.23 ± 0.04 MPa), and group 3 (mean 0.91 ± 0.05 MPa). Conclusion: The difference of the tensile strength between coping metal of fixed denture decreases with increasing axial wall preparation angle variation.
