Description of facial types and dental arch form of the students in the Faculty of Dentistry Universitas Padjadjaran batch 2010-2013

Abstract


Pendahuluan: Wajah merupakan salah satu bagian terpenting dari penampilan. Bentuk wajah yang ideal dipengaruhi oleh bentuk lengkung gigi, karena lengkung gigi dijadikan sebagai faktor yang penting dalam perawatan ortodonti. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui gambaran tipe wajah dan bentuk lengkung gigi. Metode: Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Padjadjaran. Sampelnya adalah mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Padjadjaran angkatan 2010-2013 yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan dua tahap yaitu dengan melakukan pengukuran pada foto profil dan model lengkung gigi pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi angkatan 2010-2013 Universitas Padjadjaran. Hasil: Terdapat tipe wajah hypereuryprosopic sebanyak 76,97%, euryprosopic sebanyak 86,06%, mesoprosopic sebanyak 18,18%, leptoprosopic sebanyak 12,12%, dan hyperleptoprosopic sebanyak 6,67%. Bentuk lengkung gigi tapered sebanyak 85,71%, square sebanyak 0%, dan ovoid sebanyak 14,29% baik pada rahang atas dan rahang bawah. Simpulan: Tipe wajah pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Gigi angkatan 2010-2013 Universitas Padjadjaran adalah euryprosopic dan Bentuk lengkung gigi adalah bentuk tapered.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The face is one of the most fragile parts of appearance. Face types are things that can describe the differences in the shape of each person’s face. The aim of the study was to find out the description of the face type and the shape of the dental arch. Methods: The study was conducted using descriptive method. The samples were students of the Faculty of Dentistry, Padjadjaran University, 2010-2013 generation who were selected using purposive sampling technique. Results: There were hypereuryprosopic facial types as much as 30%, euryprosopic as much as 48.57%, mesoprosopic as much as 14.29%, leptoprosopic as much as 5.71%, and hyperleptoprosopic as much as 1.43%. From the same number of samples, found tapered dental arches as much as 85.71%, square as much as 0%, and ovoid as much as 14.29% both in the maxilla and mandible. Conclusion: Face types in the Faculty of Dentistry students of 2010-2013 University of Padjadjaran University are mostly hypereuryprosopic in male and euryprosopic students in female students. The curvature of the teeth in the Faculty of Dentistry students of the 2010-2013 University of Padjadjaran University is tapered to the maxilla and mandible in both male and female students. All facial types, namely hypereuryprosopic, euryprosopic, mesoprosopic, leptoprosopic, and hyperleptoprosopic in the 2010-2013 Faculty of Dentistry students at Padjadjaran University were dominated by tapered dental arches in both the maxilla and mandible.
