Journal History

Jurnal Kajian Informasi & Perpustakaan (JKIP) was first published in December 2012 by LP3, Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Padjadjaran. The first printed edition was published in June 2013. JKIP began using the Online Journal System (OJS) in June 2016. Therefore, publications from June 2013 to December 2016 are categorized as back issues.

Since Vol. 4, No. 2, December 2016 (after obtaining an online ISSN), Jurnal Kajian Informasi & Perpustakaan changed its publisher. Initially, the journal was published by LP3, Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Padjadjaran. The publisher was later changed to the Library Science Study Program, Faculty of Communication Science, Universitas Padjadjaran.

In 2017, the journal name in the website header changed the conjunction “dan” in Jurnal Kajian Informasi dan Perpustakaan to the logogram “&”, becoming Jurnal Kajian Informasi & Perpustakaan, in order to align with the original journal name registered during the ISSN submission.

On April 26, 2017, Jurnal Kajian Informasi & Perpustakaan received training on the implementation of the Electronic Journal/OJS Application from the Directorate General of Higher Education, Kemristekdikti. Following this training, several improvements were made. The author guidelines were revised in December 2017, particularly regarding the article interface and header (“judul sirahan”).

Jurnal Kajian Informasi & Perpustakaan also introduced a journal template for the December 2017 edition, including additional title information on the first page and layout adjustments. In the same issue, JKIP also revised its focus and scope and made several changes to the ISSN information on the front cover and publisher information on the back cover.

Since the December 2017 edition, Jurnal Kajian Informasi & Perpustakaan has also implemented a double-blind peer-review system, along with improvements to the reviewer assessment instruments.

On June 30, 2019, Dr. Pawit M. Yusup stepped down as Editor-in-Chief. Starting July 1, 2019, Andri Yanto, M.I.Kom., took over the position of Editor-in-Chief. The review procedure remained the same as before, and decision notifications continued to be sent from the same email address (jkip.fikom@unpad.ac.id).

Since April 2021, Jurnal Kajian Informasi & Perpustakaan has involved international reviewers, and since December 2021, it has also involved international editors. Furthermore, in 2022, the journal website design was improved. Since Vol. 10, No. 1, June 2022, the journal has required all manuscripts to be written in English and has updated its template and author guidelines. The copyright statement in manuscripts was also changed to “Copyright belongs to the author.”

Jurnal Kajian Informasi & Perpustakaan further improved its manuscript format with a new template starting from Vol. 13, No. 2, December 2025. The changes include: (1) The first page of the manuscript now displays only the English abstract, which consists of Background, Purpose, Method, Result, Conclusion, and Implication; (2) The manuscript keywords consist of five words; and (3) Author Statements are included after the conclusion section. These Author Statements consist of Acknowledgement, Author Contribution, Conflict of Interest, Funding, and Data Availability.
