Jurnal Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Padjadjaran

Jurnal Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Padjadjaran (JKG) is an open-access journal published in English that disseminates original, innovative, up-to-date, and applicable research articles and case reports across all fields of dentistry, adopting interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches. All submitted manuscripts undergo a double-blind peer review process to ensure high scientific quality and rigor in both theoretical knowledge and practical applications.

JKG is published by the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Padjadjaran, three times a year, in April, August, and December. Manuscript submission is open throughout the year via the Open Journal System (OJS). JKG is also affiliated with the Indonesian Dental Association (Persatuan Dokter Gigi Indonesia/PDGI), as stipulated in a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).

The scope of Jurnal Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Padjadjaran encompasses all areas of dental science, including but not limited to:
oral biology; dental materials science and technology; oral and maxillofacial surgery; pediatric dentistry; dental public health, epidemiology, and preventive dentistry; conservative dentistry, endodontics, and operative dentistry; periodontology; prosthodontics; orthodontics; oral medicine; dental and maxillofacial radiology; as well as advancements in dentistry from related scientific disciplines.
JKG accommodates scholarly works from academics, researchers, and practitioners, serving as a scientific reference for all areas of dentistry.

Jurnal Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Padjadjaran is a sister journal of Padjadjaran Journal of Dentistry. In 2017, JKG launched its online publication version with e-ISSN 2549-6514, in accordance with PDII–LIPI policy. Since the same year, JKG has fully adopted the Open Journal System (OJS) platform, requiring all authors to register prior to online manuscript submission. Editors and peer reviewers manage and evaluate manuscripts through this platform, and authors may monitor the progress of their submissions online.

JKG accepts manuscript submissions throughout the year via OJS. All submissions first undergo an initial screening process, aimed at ensuring manuscript suitability while also supporting early-career and mid-level researchers in developing high-quality scientific writing. This stage is followed by a double-blind peer review process to uphold scientific integrity and excellence.

Prior to submission, all authors must prepare their manuscripts in accordance with the journal templates for research articles or case reports, and complete all required manuscript files and author metadata accurately and comprehensively. Submissions that do not meet these requirements will not be processed further. All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using Turnitinto prevent any form of unacceptable plagiarism. Reference management is strongly recommended using Mendeley, following the Vancouver superscript citation style, and all selected keywords must be based on Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms.

An automated Submission Acknowledgement email will be sent to the registered author for each manuscript submission. This email includes a Cover Letter checklist and a Statement of Willingness to Pay the Initial Processing Charge, which must be completed accordingly. The Journal Publishing Agreement—including the Statement of Authorship, Copyright Transfer Agreement, and Conflict of Interest Disclosure—along with the Article Publication Fee Form and Letter of Acceptance, will be issued only after the manuscript has been formally accepted.

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment, followed by double-blind peer review and editorial copyediting. Editorial practices at JKG adhere to theICMJE Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals. The double-blind peer review process follows the RDDA (Related Discipline, Different Affiliation) principle and complies with the Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers of JKG. All publication policies and practices strictly follow COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards.

Effective April 2023, JKG implemented updated templates for research articles and case reports, available on the journal website. The journal has accepted English-language (international) manuscripts since the April 2023 issue and has engaged in international collaboration since December 2022.

The journal has also published a Special Issue of Case Reports (Supplement 4) in January 2024, following the publication of Supplements 1, 2, and 3 in previous years.

Beginning in February 2026, Jurnal Kedokteran Gigi Universitas Padjadjaran transitioned its publication language from Indonesian to English. This milestone marked an important step in the journal’s ongoing development, aiming to broaden its international readership, enhance academic quality, and strengthen its global scholarly presence.
